He is also involved in the Association des MBA du Québec, particularly at the youth level, and he chairs the M40 business club.
Robert Astell, Lawyer

Robert Astell has been a member of Astell Lachance Du Sablon De Sua since its founding in 2005. Mr. Astell is a graduate of the Faculty of Political Science and Law at the Université du Québec à Montréal. His main areas of practice are civil and commercial litigation, business law, bankruptcy, insolvency and restructuring. Through his years of experience as a lawyer, Mr. Astell has represented many clients in the courts of first instance, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. His taste and talent for litigation and dispute resolution has given him considerable expertise in this area. In particular, he has developed a thorough knowledge of commercial law, particularly in the agricultural field. He represents clients in corporate, litigation, commercial and insurance matters. In addition, he advises many companies on everything related to their legal affairs, and has led several major commercial transactions. Mr. Astell also represents clients with respect to the penal provisions for the regulation of securities as well as for tax litigation. He is also involved as President of the Old Montreal Business Development Corporation and Vice-President of Saint-Jacques, an organization that helps homeless people.
Me Meriem Amir obtained her law degree from the Université du Québec à Montréal in 2015 and entered the bar in 2017. She also holds a minor in economics from the Université de Montréal. Me Meriem Amir joined ALDD – Astell Lachance Du Sablon De Sua in 2016 to complete her internship. Me Meriem Amir practices mainly in civil and commercial litigation, real estate law and business law while fulfilling certain mandates in administrative and municipal law. Her practice covers all aspects of litigation including the drafting of legal opinions, the preparation of various procedures, the implementation of the legal strategy as well as the representation of clients before the civil and administrative courts and in the context of settlement agreement. From the beginning of her career, Me Meriem Amir has intervened on several occasions in commercial, contractual and real estate injunctions, in recourse in vices-concealed and civil liability. Me Meriem Amir also has relevant experience in business start-up, corporate structuring and drafting contracts of all kinds. Me Ariël Thériault-Roy obtained her law degree from University of Montréal in 2016 and was called to the Bar in 2018. Before joining the legal department of Flightclaim.ca, Me Ariël Thériault-Roy did her articling in commercial litigation during which she gained a solid experience in trial preparation and represented clients before several Quebec courts. As part of the Flightclaim.ca team, she deals with the management of claims, the follow-up of theses claims with the airlines and represents our clients before the different offices of mediation.

Before joining our team, Sophie worked for over ten (10) years with the largest Canadian airline specializing in holiday travel, including eight (8) years as a manager. She brings her expertise to FlightClaim.ca on the level of customer experience – her specialty – while also being responsible for operations.
Jean-Denis Pelletier, eng./P.Eng
Mr. Pelletier holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Université de Sherbrooke and a Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering from the École Polytechnique of the Université de Montréal. From 1983 to 1998, he held various senior positions at the Montreal Transit Commission and the Montreal Urban Community Transportation Corporation, including Project Manager and Head of Ancillary Services and Litigation. From 1998 to 2005, Mr. Pelletier worked in the field of transportation consulting. From 2005 to 2008, he was commissioner and administrative judge at the Quebec Transport Commission. From 2008 to 2013, he was a Commissioner and Administrative Judge at the Canadian Transportation Agency.

Karine is currently doing an internship with us as part of her Bachelor of Laws and MBA at Université de Sherbrooke. Her passion for international law and her dynamism make a great contribution to the team. She takes part in the management of the files of volenretard.ca and ensures the progress of these, especially regarding the mediation. Karine also helps with research and legal writing for the current needs of the team.
Thierry has more than 10 years of experience in journalism. He is responsible for the management of volenretard.ca files as well as the company’s social media.
